Partner Spotlight: Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is proud to be a longtime supporter of the Colorado Homeownership Coalition (CHC). Over the years, CHFA has provided over $60,000 in financial support to help ensure CHC can carry out its mission of providing sustainable homeownership in Colorado communities.

Sustainable Homeownership: CHFA believes everyone in Colorado should have the opportunity for housing stability and economic prosperity. To that end, CHFA and CHC’s missions align. Homeownership serves as a vital component of thriving communities and can transform a family’s future for generations to come.

Most funds provided to CHC have been awarded through CHFA’s Direct Effect Awards. Direct Effect Awards recognize Colorado nonprofit organizations whose missions align with CHFA’s work to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. Since 2021, CHFA has provided over $3.6 million in Direct Effect Awards to 277 organizations.

Additionally, each quarter, CHFA selects a new nonprofit to highlight. CHFA staff can donate to this nonprofit through their monthly paycheck.  CHC was CHFA’s second quarter recipient in 2022.

“CHFA is a proud supporter of the Colorado Homeownership Coalition and their extremely valuable work helping qualifying homeowners maintain successful homeownership. I have personally witnessed the positive impact CHC has on its grantees, and I am proud to be an advocate and contributor of their great work.” —Dan McMahon, CHFA Home Finance Director

CHFA’s involvement does not stop at only providing monetary support.  Staff voluntarily serve as committee and advisory members, promoting the organization and/or reviewing homeowners’ applications for assistance. Additionally, CHFA served as CHC’s fiscal administrator in its infancy.
